NMRA Special Interest Group

Supporting the Layout Command Control standard

A community of model railroaders dedicated to advancing the NMRA LCC standard — an open, peer-to-peer networking protocol for layout automation and control.

What is the LCC SIG?

The Layout Command Control Special Interest Group (LCC SIG) is an unincorporated, not-for-profit organization associated with the National Model Railroad Association. Our mission is to advocate for, promote, and support the NMRA LCC standard — fostering education, development, and adoption across the model railroad community.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in LCC — no NMRA membership required, and participation is free of charge. The SIG holds meetings at least twice per year in virtual or hybrid format, and conducts all official business electronically.

The primary communication channel for announcements, meeting notices, and organizational information is this website at lccsig.org.

Why LCC?

Open standard

LCC is an NMRA-ratified open standard with no proprietary lock-in. Any manufacturer or hobbyist can implement it.

Peer-to-peer networking

Nodes communicate directly without a central controller, making layouts more robust and easier to expand.

Active community

An engaged group of developers, manufacturers, and hobbyists continuously improving tooling, documentation, and hardware.

Proven in the field

Deployed on layouts of all scales and complexity — from small home layouts to large modular club installations.

Leadership

The LCC SIG is governed by a five-member Board of Directors consisting of three officers and two Directors-at-Large elected by the membership.
